Hi There Fight Fans,
I don't know how many of you are going to be around this 4th of July weekend, but this Saturday night offers up some pretty flashy fireworks of its own when the coaches of the recently concluded season of THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and the ever popular quipster Forrest Griffin hook it up for ownership of Jackson's light heavy weight strap. Both these boys come to bang, so this should be a stand up war, but if it goes to the ground I think the red haired terror will have a jujitsu advantage over the rampaging one. I don't think that these guys really dislike each other, as the hype would have you believe, but they both just seem to Like to fight, they both throw dangerous strikes and they are both a bit vulnerable (Look at Jackson's recor d in PRIDE, not to his UFC credentials here), they both have great skills and they both want This One Real Bad, sooo this should be a very entertaining war.
Much of the remainder of the card pits seasoned grapplers against powerful strikers. Canadian Banger Patrick Cote will try to take out New Jersey's own Big Dog, Ricardo Almedia before the Big Dog can take him down and tie him into knots. Personally I think The Dog will take this one. Jujitsu wizard Joe "Daddy" Stevenson will be out to avoid the powerful strikes of and submit Gleason Tibau and Wrestling stand out Josh Koscheck will be looking to score his famous take downs and ground and pound veteran striker Chris Lytle, but Chris isn't called "Lights Out Lytle" for nothing, so this could be interesting. BJJ expert Jorge Gurgel will look to submit fellow TUF vet lanky Cole Miller and TUF vets Ben Sanders and J-Roc Rollins will face each other on this card too.
Looks like a good one and it starts at 10:00, so if you have nothing to do on a quiet holiday weekend Saturday Night in town stop by.
